Wolfson Children's Hospital + Baptist Health Downtown Arrival Court
Baptist Health, in partnership with Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, found a need to expand and build a new patient tower. This also created an opportunity for a new “front door” that would receive the hundreds of patients and visitors each day. The ML+H team designed a site plan that creates an expansive auto-court and pedestrian plaza at the base of the new tower while expanding the public streetscape and street level branding. Incorporation of themed lighting, signage and public art further enhance the space with an eye to always improve the “patient experience.”
Baptist Medical Center South Visitor Garage
Baptist Medical Center added Marquis Latimer + Halback, Inc. to the design-build team for a new 1,000 car parking facility at the entrance of the Baptist South hospital campus. This new garage is the primary point of arrival, parking, and orientation for visitors and patients to the hospital and the three adjacent medical office buildings.
The new landscape brings a human scale to the large structure while keeping the visual focus on the hospital entryway. Native landscapes, including palm groves and oak hammocks, extract and interpret the essence of northeast Florida.
Baptist Health Nassau Surgery Court
ML+H was called in as part of the development of a new surgical suite at the Baptist Nassau Campus. The new lobby featured floor to ceiling windows with a view of a parking lot, lift station, and electrical junction box. The new design had a narrow footprint that had to screen the adjacent utilities while providing a pleasant view from the new lobby.
The new courtyard features a decorative patio and benches with a series of raised planters that create and intimate garden space. To make the most of the limited space, a row of annual flowers lines the borders of the courtyard so there is interest in all seasons. Special care was taken to preserve the existing live oaks that flank the space. ML+H also provided full landscape architecture services for the rest of the site improvements including landscape, irrigation, and hardscape.
