Contemporary Beach Bungalow
Located only steps from the Atlantic Ocean, this private oasis transformed a small backyard into an artistic place for leisure and relaxation. Marquis Latimer + Halback, Inc. worked to maximize the small lot by creating a series of outdoor experiences that extended the interior living areas. The pool, outdoor kitchen, and deck blend into the landscape, which showcases natural and Florida Friendly plantings.
The color palette throughout the landscape and hardscape is cool and calming, reflecting the colors of the ocean. Bamboo, which creates a wonderfully kinetic landscape as the sea breeze moves through the garden, also helps to further screen neighboring views.

Tremerton Residence
Overlooking the Matanzas River and historic St. Augustine waterfront, this client challenged the design team to create a sophisticated outdoor entertainment area and garden. Requiring spaces for relaxing around the pool and spa or entertaining large gatherings, the program focuses on the expansive water views and environment.
This highly stylized custom single-family garden is a reflection of the owners’ desire to create an oasis of style. From the tiled infinity edge pool to the dramatic lighting and fire bowl features, this setting creates a connection to the expanse of water beyond. Rich textured landscape plantings and an outdoor kitchen complete the space for relaxation and entertaining.
Palencia Residence
The integration of the landscape into the adjacent preserve was important to homeowners in this master planned community in northeast Florida. An outdoor kitchen, flagstone dining patio, and brick fireplace are surrounded by native grasses, shrubs and trees. A pond-less creek runs along the flagstone patio, providing a calming sight and sound to the homeowners and guests.
By working closely with the homeowners, Marquis Latimer + Halback, Inc. created a private retreat located in a pine flatwoods. The resulting design blends water, plantings and site amenities seamlessly into the landscape.
