The St. Augustine Amphitheatre
Project Description + Challenge
Legacy Beneath the Stars
As the prime consultant, ML+H provided a program, master plan, theme development, complete construction documents, and construction observation. Redeveloped as a cultural and heritage destination, the new 4,100-seat outdoor performing arts amphitheater was originally built as the home of the Florida State Play ‘Cross & Sword’. The facility includes a 15,000 square foot stage and back-of-house structure, partial covered seating, and patron services facilities. The site is sculpted into a coastal oak hammock and includes an interpretive arboretum.
Our Solution
Recognized as one of the most successful small to medium outdoor amphitheaters in the country, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is truly ‘Rooted in Music & Community’. The planning and design of this multi-purpose facility regularly brings the community together for a variety of performing arts functions and a very popular weekly farmer’s market.
