Baptist Health Clay Hospital Expansion
Project Description + Challenge
Creating a Neighborhood Asset
Clay County’s explosive growth has created a demand for emergency healthcare close to home. The new 200 bed hospital will be able to provide emergency care and elective procedures without the need for long drives or crossing a bridge. ML+H was challenged to develop a site plan that circulated traffic efficiently while incorporating as much of the existing site and architecture as possible. Effectively screening views to the neighboring residences was also critical to the success of the site.
Our Solution
By shifting the entrance point to the campus the traffic will naturally flow past the main entrance and front door of the hospital. ML+H also conducted field study of all of the existing trees on site and hand selected the trees to be preserved as part of the buffer plan that would screen the hospital from the view of neighboring homes.
